Surfing and Blogging Traveller

A huge purse to hold change for internet access?

I bet many of you here are net savvy like me or even a blogger. So while you travel, you will definitely need to have internet access nearby. As a matter-of-factly, it is not that difficult to find internet cafe in many cities you travel in, for example in Croatia in the more touristy towns, internet cafes are everywhere.

However, do take note that internet cafes are not cheap and prices can differ significantly when you are surfing in the city centre or small suburban town. Prices in London can range from 2 pounds an hour to 50 pence for half an hour.

Your best bet is to book your accommodation in a student hostel. It usually have internet facilities available. But do watch out for internet machines that charge on your credit card. One of the travellers I met in San Francisco was furious and complained to us about her unfortunate encounter with surfing the hostel. After her internet session, she rang up her bank to check how much the internet session cost her. And she was shocked when they overcharged her by about 10 to 20 USD for the 10-minute session. She requested the bank not to charge for that transaction and lodged a complaint at the hostel.

If you have a laptop with wireless connection, matters would be easier as major cities have wireless hot zones available. In Singapore, most coffee chains have free computers for surfing and wireless hot zones for those with laptops.
Blogging while travelling is not an impossibility anymore!
