Travelling and Weather

For me, weather has not really affect my travelling decisions much when I was in Singapore. But now that I live in a country with four seasons, I begin to plan our travels around the weather. Ignoring the weather will not help you. I've learnt my valuable lesson in 2007 when there was a major snow storm in Central Europe. The airports had to be closed due to bad weather especially for London airports which are not accustomed to slightly bad weather. Any 2 inches of snow can halt the traffic and closed the schools.

Here are a few weather related travel tips:

(1) Due to erratic weather conditions, try to prevent travelling in Europe (especially air travel) during winter. You'll never know when the snow will delay or cancel your flights.

(2) Summer is the best time to travel in Europe. But do take note that the prices of everything will be significantly more expensive. Book early if you must! Or book after tourist season (after August).

(3) Heat wave can be a problem. So always be prepared and carry a bottle of water with you. Take shelter from the heat to prevent getting a heat stroke.

(4) When travelling in underground trains, try to avoid the peak hours. The temperatures could hit as high as 50 degrees C in the summer.

Hope all these little tips help. Happy travelling!!

Weather again? It must be occupying your mind lately. I wish I saw some snow the last time I was in Europe but then it was just cold and gloomy. It rained in Amsterdam and in London, I heard it had not snowed for years. So, there is going to be snow there? YOu should see what this winter did to China. Don't forget to visit http://steptpg.blogspot.com for some freakish winter!

Ah. I've heard about freakish weather in China affecting the Chinese New Year season. Poor people stuck at train stations.
